Currently been in the fashion industry for 15 years. 12 of those years I have run my own business. Having graduated from London College of Fashion i went straight into working for myself. Within a year of graduating, my first company secured contracts to supply Topshop, ASOS and Allders with lines form my brand. In 2008 I was one of 20 UK designers chosen by the London Development Agency to go to New York to represent the best of UK designers during Fashion Week.
I have been fortunate enough to work on projects as a technician for Alexander McQueen, Kanye West, Roland Mouret, Erdem and Ralph & Russo, to name a few from a long list.
Currently I am a part time product design lecturer at Central Saint Martins. Over the years I have been involved in a number of fashion educational ventures to help NEET’s acquire vocational skills.
I launched the Emile Vidal Carr® brand in 2013. The collections are inspired by my passion for architecture and the desire to create structured, wearable, fashion for women crafted from technical fabrics. My long term goal is to create a company like Kerring and have a catalogue of fashion brands under my management.
One of the things I encourage new businesses to do is ’embrace your mistakes’. Business isn’t business if things don’t go wrong. You have to accept it and learn from it.
