Maria Petnga-Wallace is Diversity and Inclusion Partner at the global media group Dentsu Aegis Network. Her first experience of workplace diversity was joining an action group to implement the recommendations of the MacPherson Report in 1999. As Diversity Adviser at Hogan Lovells and Business in the Community she worked directly with senior leaders, HR professionals and employee networks to implement changes to create a positive work culture to attract and retain a diverse workforce. Activities included building a national mentoring circle programme, delivering Inclusive Leadership sessions and conducting organisational benchmark audits.
She has always danced to the beat of need for cultural change. Born in Belfast during the 70s and listening to the strums of her Jamaican father’s Roots Revival lyrics she is keen on the power of storytelling to ignite empathy and appreciation for a different perspective.
Projects include creating a social mobility and BAME ambassador programme as part of the agency collective Advertising Diversity Taskforce and she’s also part of a Barnet project’s ‘Big Grange Local’ Steering Committee.
